The new flight also enables passengers from Russia to use the extensive Air Berlin route network from Berlin-Tegel that is one of the German hubs of the company.

The airline is being actively integrated to Domodedovo route network operating code-sharing flights with one of the leading Russian air carriers – S7 Airlines.

The first service from Berlin to Moscow was launched in August 2003 already – still under the name of Germania Express. Since 2007, all flights from Munich, Dьsseldorf and Berlin to Moscow have been operated by Air Berlin. In 2009, Air Berlin carried 265 000 passengers from Moscow Domodedovo Airport to Germany destinations and back.

The Air Berlin Group has been listed on the stock exchange since May 2006. Last year Air Berlin carried a total of 27.9 million passengers worldwide. The company currently has about 8,200 employees. Every year Air Berlin receives more than 10 awards for service and quality. With an average age of just 5.5 years, Air Berlin has one of the newest fleets in Europe. The airline’s modern aircraft are extremely fuel-efficient and so provide a lasting contribution to the reduction of aviation emissions.
