OREANDA-NEWS. April 07, 2010. JSC Aeroflot Russian Airlines has won the Russian National Award ‘Wings of Russia 2009’ (Krylya Rossii 2009) in two key nominations: Air Carrier of the Year – Passengers’ Choice, and Air Carrier of the Year - International Passenger Carrier.

Wings of Russia for 13 years has been Russia’s main industry award marking domestic companies’ achievements and contribution in the Russian civil aviation development. As many as 48 companies competed for the ‘Air Carrier of the Year - 2009’ title. The winners and laureates were decided by a secret voting of the Award’s Public Panel consisting of about 100 members, among them industry vets (ex senior officers of civil aviation), officials representing Russian Government, federal agencies and non-government organizations, and specialized journalists. Passenger carriers were assessed in terms of flight safety, passenger-kilometers, passenger traffic, passenger load factor, revenues from passenger traffic, profitability, and industry-specific criteria.

The winner in the special Passengers’ Choice nomination was defined by a complex Web-enabled passenger survey. Over 5,000 people participating in the survey assessed service quality of the Russian air carriers by a wide range of parameters showing passenger confidence in the company, customer care level, and in-flight service quality.

JSC Aeroflot Russian Airlines is one of the world’s oldest and well-recognized air carriers, undoubted leader of Russia’s civil aviation, and de-facto Russian national carrier.
