OREANDA-NEWS. April 07, 2010. The move to increase production in April was due to high demand for cars within the government-sponsored cash-for-clunkers program. However, we note than demand has risen only on low-cost cars; so a possible upturn in sales could not to have any notable impact on company financials.

On April 6, AvtoVAZ reported it had revised upwards its car manufacturing plan for April 2010, up from 40,327 to 42,702 vehicles. The move was due to increased demand for low-cost Lada 2105/07 models after the launch of the government cash-for-clunkers program. To fulfill the plan, the plant will arrange for additional 8-hour Saturday shifts three times a month.
