OREANDA-NEWS. April 07, 2010. The meeting between Mr. Igor Artemiev, Head of the Federal Antimonopoly Service (the FAS Russia), and Ms. Caroline Wilson, Minister Counsellor on economic issues of the British Embassy in Moscow, and Ms. Charlotte Sims, Second Secretary of the British Embassy in Moscow, was held.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the structural departments of the FAS Russia: Department of International Economic Cooperation, Department for Control over Power Energy Sector and Department for Control over Social Sphere and Trade.

Mr. Igor Artemiev informed Ms. Caroline Wilson on the priority areas of the FAS Russia' activity in 2010-2011, such as, combating cartels, control over public authorities and suppression of monopolistic activity.

The main issues concerning latest modifications in the pharmaceutical and energy sectors of economy, as well as in the spheres of implementation of antimonopoly legislation in strategic sectors of economy were discussed at the meeting.

Ms. Wilson underlined the importance of the FAS Russia' activity for the Russian economy and the high effectiveness of authority.

The Head of the FAS Russia also mentioned the importance for the antimonopoly authority of the cooperation with the Office of Fair Trading of the Great Britain and the Competition Commission of the Great Britain.

Summarizing the results of the meeting, Mr. Igor Artemiev thanked for the possibility of holding such meeting, and expressed the hope for the further development of the Russian-British cooperation in the field of competition policy.
