RTS Announced Stock Market March Trading Results

OREANDA-NEWS. April 07, 2010. In March 2010 the RTS Index went up by 11,46% to 1,572.48 points as of March 31, 2010 against 1,410.85 points as of February 27, 2010. Most of the positive impact on the RTS Index dynamics was coming from the increasing prices for Sberbank ordinary shares (SBERS) (up 31,55 points), followed by ordinary shares of OJSC "MMC "NORILSK NICKEL", (GMKNS) (up 23,53 points), and ordinary shares of ОАО "LUKOIL" (LKOHS) (up 15.30 points).

The RTS Standard Index, the blue chips index, rose by 8.75% to reach 9,955.03 points (9,154.18 points as of February 27, 2010). The "second-tier" stock index – RTS-2 Index gained 17.90% to reach 1,853.41 points (1,572.03 points as of February 27, 2010). Key economy sectors represented on the Russian stock market showed a positive trend. The largest growth was demonstrated by the electric utilities sector, with the RTS Electric Utilities Index adding 23.27%. A significant rise was reported by the consumer sector, with the RTS Consumer & Retail Index rising by 20.06%. The smallest gain was experienced by the financial sector: the RTS Finances Index added 7.57%.

In March the US dollar depreciated by 2.25% against the Russian ruble to reach 29.36 rubles per US dollar (30.04 rubles as of February 27, 2010).

In March 2010 the securities trading volume on RTS equaled USD53.0 billion (1,568.2 billion rubles*), including all types of trades. The trading volume on RTS Standard totaled USD8,323.98 million.

The top sellers of the month on the RTS Stock Market were Sberbank ordinary shares (SBER) with a turnover of USD 4,555.0 million followed by Gazprom ordinary shares (GAZP) with a turnover of USD 1,615.9 million and ОАО "LUKOIL" ordinary shares (LKOH) with a turnover of USD666.6 million. The share of the above securities in the turnover made up 52,81%, 18,73% and 7,73% respectively.

The top gainers of the month were ordinary shares of JSC "OGK-2" (OGKB) that experienced a growth of 83.08% to reach USD 0.0595, ordinary shares of OJS "OGK-6" (OGKF) that went up by 56.04% to reach USD 0.0399 and ordinary shares of JSC "OGK-3" (OGKC) that gained 53.57% to end up at USD 0.0688 per share.

The top losers of the month were ordinary shares of Sistema-Hals JSC (HALS)  that lost 10.00% to reach USD 36, ordinary shares of V.Bank (VZRZ) that went down by 9.78% to reach USD 41.5 and ordinary shares of PJSC "NUTRINVESTHOLDING" (NTRI)  that decreased by 6.48% to USD 3,03.
