OREANDA-NEWS. April 12, 2010. Those who have recently travelled along the Turkmenbashi-Ashgabat highway drive across the new railway crossing in the western outskirts of the administrative centre of Bereket Etrap on Balkan Velayat cannot even suppose that this is the starting point the Bereket-Gyzylgaya-Uzen railway.

The transnational railway, the railway of the century, the construction of XXI century ... This is as the route is called. None of these epithets will be an exaggeration. Today, the work is in full swing along the whole length of the future main line. A road bed is being prepared on one section, and railings are being laid on the other. Some of the railway sections have been put into operation.

The Bereket enterprise has recently put the 72-km section from Bereket to the Yasga station into operation. Railway track laying machines from Dashoguz, Mary and Serdar laid tracks at the 256th kilometer of the main line. The stations Avlamys and Tuwer were “passed on” after Gyzylgaya. The 18th passing place is the next in turn. Workshop wagons are engaged in laying the road bed on the 291st kilometer of the future railway.

Builders, railway engineers and tracklayers from all over the country are engaged in building the line across the deserts and steppes of Western Turkmenistan. Railway track laying machines and workshop wagons from all regions of the country work there.

Since construction was launched the necessary infrastructure has been built in Bereket to provide tracklayers with necessary equipment and materials. A branch railway was laid to the gravel and sand pit in the Egeri settlement located in the outskirts of Bereket. Continuous welded rails, along which freight and passenger trains will run, are laid, and side tracks, dead-end sidings, buildings and facilities at the stations are under construction.

The first of newly built new railway station is Cilmamed. From ancient times Bereket shepherds graze flocks of sheep. During the years of independence wheat fields appeared there, farmers reap rich harvests and make these expanses habitable. This railway fosters the development of husbandry and livestock farming in this region. For the importance of this railway and other projects they must promote the development of the national economy and improve the conditions of life and work of our citizens. The day when water, gas, electricity, communication service will come to this region together with the railway is near. All other necessary things will appear because there are many diligent people. There are the new white-marble railway station building and apartment house, the construction of which is under completion.

The boiler plant will supply heat to apartment houses and industrial and industrial facilities, and the road and all stations will be equipped with state-of-the-art electronic, computer-aided and communications devices manufactured by the Belarusian specialists who have already inspected railway facilities. The traffic is brisk. Dump cars and hopper-batchers transport freight, gravel-sand mixture and crushed stone. Trains carry with rails and sleepers to the construction sites. Passenger trains carry tracklayers. Diesel locomotives bustle about. The railway is being built, lives and works.

We made another stop at the entrance to Bereket where Pars Energy ‘set up’ the camp. Under the agreements the Iranian company is to build the Bereket locomotive depot and the southern branch line of the transnational railway. This means revival and modernization of the region for local people. In the near future the roar of high-powered equipment and locomotive whistles will wake up the ancient land of blessed Dehistan because the longest section of the southern branch line in the territory of Turkmenistan will run across the lands of Mashad-Misserian. Our grandiose construction project will restore the lands, where the ancient civilizations once flourished, to a new life. They become known to the world for their new undertakings.
