OREANDA-NEWS. April 15, 2010. A bilateral meeting between the representatives of the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS Russia) and the Netherlands Competition Authority was held, reported the press-centre of FAS Russia.

Mr. Andrey Tsyganov, Deputy Head of the FAS Russia, as well as representatives of the Department for Control over Chemical Industry and Agriculture Complex and the Department of International Economic Cooperation participated in the meeting on behalf of the FAS Russia.

The Dutch party was represented by Mr. Gerard Bakker, Director of the Competition Department of the Netherlands Competition Authority, and Prof. Dr. Yarig van Sinderen, Chief Economist of the Netherlands Competition Authority.

Mr. Andrey Tsyganov informed the representatives of Netherlands Competition Authority on the activities of the FAS Russia, including the functions and powers of the authority as well as on the investigations of violations of the antimonopoly legislation being conducted.

In his turn, Mr. Gerard Bakker described the structure and powers of the Netherlands Competition Authority to the FAS Russia' representatives. The participants of the meeting discussed the possibilities of conducting joint investigations of violations of the antimonopoly legislation that affect interests of businesses entities of the parties.

Mr. Bakker proposed to develop inter-agency cooperation within the frameworks of exchange of experience on the main activities of authorities. In addition, Mr. Bakker informed on the upcoming 10th Annual Conference, organized by the International Competition Network (ICN), which will be held under support of the Netherlands Competition Authority in 2011, in Hague.

Mr. Andrey Tsyganov thanked the Dutch colleagues for the meeting and expressed hope for further development of bilateral interaction between competition authorities within the frameworks of realization of competition policy and suppression of anticompetitive practices.
