OREANDA-NEWS. April 15, 2010. TNK-BP announced that its new branded Pulsar gasoline is now available in TNK fuel stations in the Rostov region and Krasnodar territory. The gasoline is produced in 95- and 92-octane versions, with the Pulsar 92 gasoline going on sale for the first time. Pulsar will be on sale at 38 TNK fuel stations in the Rostov region and at 27 TNK fuel stations in the Krasnodar Territory, reported the press-centre of TNK-BP.

Pulsar 95 and Pulsar 92 are designed in accordance with high environmental performance and comply with the Euro-4 standard. The fuel was developed by TNK-BP specialists using innovative fuel technologies. Currently, Pulsar is produced at the Ryazan Refining Company, a member of TNK-BP Group. Plans are being put in place to commence production at other company refineries.

Pulsar gasoline has undergone a series of tests in independent centres in Germany and Russia on injector and carburettor engines of Mercedes, Hyundai and VAZ-11113. These tests showed higher detergent properties than regular gasoline types.

The tests showed that thanks to Pulsar induction valve sediments are reduced 34-fold and the level of carburettor pollution has dropped by more than 11%. Moreover, Pulsar’s corrosivity is 2.4-fold lower compared to standard A-95 and A-92 fuels. All of these factors combined result in better mileage and vehicle durability, lower CO2 levels in exhaust gases and greater economy. The content of sulphur and benzene in Pulsar 95 and Pulsar 92 is on average three times and 80% below the norm respectively. The arrival of this new fuel type with such prominent properties will boost the Company’s efforts to improve the environment.

Pulsar 95 went on sale in October 2009 in Moscow and the Moscow region. Today more than 35% of customers of 95-octane gasoline at TNK fuel stations opt for Pulsar.

“TNK-BP is consistently implementing its program aimed at increasing the supply of high-quality fuels complying with environmental standards and technical regulations. As part of that program the company plans to invest 1.3 billion dollars in its refinery upgrades by 2015. We strive to become the retail market leader in terms of supplying customers with a new generation of environmentally-friendly motor fuels, using to this end innovative technologies and developments”, stated Amir Feyzulin, Vice President, Marketing, TNK-BP.
