OREANDA-NEWS. April 15, 2010. Concern Galnaftogaz' adoption of usage of office paper, made from literary garbage, became the next step in development of the internal ecological programme "green office". Paper producing company is Ukrainian enterprise ASS (Kharkiv). Such decision was made by management within the framework of expansion of Concern's ecological programme. Now ecological paper is delivered to the main office and few Company branches, however, it is planned to implement recycled paper at all 9 branches of the Company till July, 2010, and at all 278 OKKO filling stations – before the year is out.

We should remind, that Concern Galnaftogaz started to introduct "green office"* principles in November, 2008. During this time programme was spread onto all branches of the Company and OKKO filling stations network. Due to active support of "green office" by Company employees, over 16 tons of literary garbage were collected in our offices and passed for recycling. Also 5 L'viv filling stations, where separate collection of hard domestic waste is conducted, passed 900 kg of polyethylene for recycling during a year.

Converting these indexes to resources, we succeeded to save 272 trees, 416 thousand litres of water, 3840 litres of fuel and 64 thousand kilowatt-hours of electric power**.

Galnaftogaz actively co-operates with GreenCo-Ukraine company. Within the framework of this cooperation since May, 2009 separate garbage collection is conducted at 5 OKKO filling stations in Kyiv. Employees of these filling stations passed paper/cardboard, plastic (polyethylene, PET bottles), glass and metal for recycling. In December of the last year utility waste container was set at another, sixth OKKO filling station in Kyiv.

In December, 2009 case on implementation of "green office" programme in Concern Galnaftogaz won First All-Ukrainian CSR business case competition in Environmental protection nomination.

* "Green office" programme is oriented to diminishing of resources consumption (electric power, water), multiplying the partial of waste which is recycled afterwards, the education of the Company employees to behave ecologically consciously and in responsible manner.

** According to official estimation, recycling one ton of paper saves 17 adult trees, 26 thousand litres of water, three cubic meters of breeding ground, 240 litres of fuel, 4000 kilowatt-hours of electric power. And twice less energy is needed for paper recycling, than for its primary production of a tree, therewith noxious emissions diminish by 70% percent.
