OREANDA-NEWS. April 16, 2010. Land reclamation will be the major project in the next five-year period in Belarus, said President Alexander Lukashenko in the course of his working trip to Brest Region, reported the Official website president.gov.by.

"In the next five-year period we should complete all the projects of the land-reclamation programme," said the President.

Alexander Lukashenko visited the agricultural company Lopatino in Pinsk district. The President looked at how his earlier instructions regarding the development of the Pripyat Polesye region were being fulfilled. The Head of State was also updated on the progress made in the spring sowing campaign in Brest Region and nationwide.

After taking a helicopter flight over the crop fields of Brest Region, Alexander Lukashenko criticized the management of some agricultural companies of Brest Region for their failure to gather straw from the fields.

The Head of State toured the Misyatichi land-reclamation site where he surveyed the reclamation process and talked to some of the reclamation specialists working there.
