OREANDA-NEWS. April 16, 2010. According to the latest data, in March coal production by all companies rose against February (according to the latest data 5.741 m tons) by 10.85% or 0.623 m tons up to 6.364 m tons.

This was reported to the Ukrainski Novyny by the press service of the Ministry of Coal Industry.

As compared to March 2009, coal production rose by 6.99% or 0.416 m tons.

In March coking coal production decreased against February by 4.89% or 0.104 m tons to 2.024 m tons, while thermal coal production rose by 20.09% or 0.726 m tons to 4.339 m tons.

According to the Ministry, in March the companies managed by the Ministry of Coal Industry produced 3.239 m tons of coal, 0.735 m being the coking coal and 2.504 m tons being the thermal coal.

In January-March coal production totaled 18.068 m tons, 6.278 m tons being the coking coal and 11.79 m tons being the thermal coal.

In particular, in January-March the companies of the Ministry of Coal Industry produced 9.212 m tons, 2.207 m tons being the coking coal and 7.005 m tons being the thermal coal.

According to the agency, in February coal production by all companies reduced by 3.72% against January, or by 0.222 m tons to 5.741 m tons.

In 2009, coal production by all coal companies reduced by 7% or 5.435 m tons to 72.219 m tons against 2008.

In 2010, the Ministry of Coal Industry forecasts increase in coal production by state mines by 2.76% or 1.06 m tons to 39.5 m tons against 2009.
