OREANDA-NEWS. April 16, 2010. President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received the top managers of the well-known South Korean companies – LG International Corporation and Hyundai Engineering Co. LTD Ha Young-bong and Kim Dong Wook.

Thanking the Turkmen leader for the opportunity of a personal meeting the guests, who had arrived in Ashgabat to participate I International Gas Congress, emphasized that they considered it great honour to be invited to the large forum which focused on the ways to foster effective cooperation in the strategic fuel and energy sector. The businessmen said that the representation of participants showed an intense interest of the business circles worldwide in long-term cooperation with Turkmenistan as the country with the profound economic potential and world’s largest producer of energy. It was emphasized that this interest was conditioned to a larger extent by the prudent innovative policy pursued by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov which had ensured the progress of Turkmenistan and earned it the high international prestige.

Greeting the guests the President noted that he was glad to see in Ashgabat the heads of the largest South Korean companies which developed mutually advantageous partnership with Turkmenistan. Implementing the strategy of large-scale social and economic reforms and orienting towards scientific and technologies advances and innovations, our country always stood ready for fruitful collaboration, particularly with the leaders of world business, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said.

During the meeting the top managers of LG International and Hyundai Engineering Co. LTD informed the President on the progress in implementing joint projects including the development of the Southern Yoloten hydrocarbon field which had the huge reserves of natural gas. As is known, the Turkmengaz State Concern concluded the relevant contract with the consortium of these companies last December in accordance with the Resolution of the President of Turkmenistan.

Underscoring the willingness of LG International and Hyundai Engineering Co. LTD to expand cooperation with Turkmenistan, which had earned the reputation of very dependable partner, the South Korean businessmen put forward a number of the proposals for further cooperation, in particular on the implementation of the project of the Avaza national tourism zone initiated by the Turkmen leader.

Showing satisfaction with such a businesslike, goal-oriented approach to cooperation, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov invited the partners of the Republic of Korea to consider a possibility to open the information technology centre at the Turkmen Polytechnic Institute under construction. Upon reviewing the draft projects on the development of the Avaza national tourism zone, the Turkmen leader provided the specific comments. In particular, the President noted that the national traditions should be brightly reflected in the architectural decisions and the design of facilities to be built in the world-class resort on the Caspian seashore.

In conclusion the guests assured that the Turkmen leader’s suggestions and proposals would be taken into consideration and reaffirmed the readiness of the companies to use their expertise and potential to foster partnership with Turkmenistan.
