OREANDA-NEWS. April 20, 2010. Danske Bankas is presenting news in the Lithuanian e-banking market — a new type of authentication token — DIGIPASS 270, reported the press-centre of Danske Bankas.

The digipass is a device which complies with the highest security requirements and is intended for people wanting to reduce the risk to the maximum when connecting to the Danske eBank system.

Robertas Urbonavicius, manager of Danske eBank Development Unit notes that this "code generator generates a new unique password used only once each time you are connecting to the e-Bank system. Furthermore, connection to the digipass itself is protected with a PIN code. Therefore even if it is lost, the digipass cannot be used by any other person. In short, using the digipass practically eliminates the risk that any unauthorised persons could connect to your eBank."

Authentication tokens are essential not only for people who perform operations on eBank that involve large sums of money, but also for people who connect to the internet bank via poorly protected computers, for instance, at internet cafes, for those who use other people’s computers, etc.

Standard daily (LTL 4,000) or monthly (LTL 15,000) limits are not applied to clients who use the digipass at Danske Bankas.

Currently, 101,781 clients use Danske eBank services and 13,944 of them use the digipass.

In the future, Danske Bankas plans to provide more services to clients based on the use of a code generator for reliable identification of the specific user.

More information about the use and advantages of a digipass is available on the internet page http://www.danskebankas.lt/private/ebankas/generatorius.
