OREANDA-NEWS. April 21, 2010. The Committee has informed that in March 2010 basic CPI increased by 0.3% as well as for Jan-Feb 2010 and December 2009.

Index grew only by 1.6% on an annualized basis (versus Jan-Mar 2009).

The growth in 2009 compared to 2008 totaled 1.6% versus to growth of 22.1% over 2008 and 10.3% during 2007.

In March 2010 CPI grew by 1.3% against February and year-on-year growth of 3.8% was registered for the first quarter of 2010.

It should be noted that between January and December 2008 tendency of excess of value of base CPI was observed that was almost equal to core inflation over level of consumer inflation on an annualized and a monthly basis.

In 2009, the exceeding tendency kept year-on-year. Since 2010 this exceeding tendency disappeared.

The Committee says that base index is calculated on the basis of a complex of consumer goods and services in the course of estimation of overall CPI. Calculations do not cover prices and types of services, regulated by the government and goods depending on seasonal factors (fruits and vegetables).
