OREANDA-NEWS. April 22, 2010. The number of clients of the Altyn Asyr communication enterprise of the Turkmentelekom State Telecommunications Company has doubled since last spring. The fact that over 500,000 citizens of Turkmenistan are Altyn Asyr subscribers vividly illustrates the dynamic development of the communications sector in the country. This became possible particularly through extending the coverage area in cellular networks which can offer services to clients residing in the remote regions of the country.

According to specialists, by offering new kinds of services and expanding the service area Altyn Asyr will increase the number of its subscribers up to one million in the near future. For this purpose the contracts for the purchase of state-of-the-art equipment were concluded with the world’s leading companies. New equipment will allow improving the quality of communications and broadening a range of services that will certainly attract new clients.

The Altyn Asyr cellular communications enterprise has been providing services to the population of Turkmenistan for six years. However, the company made great progress in the past two years. It rendered services only to the velayat and etrap centres before. Today, the domestic cellular communications provider has considerably extended the coverage area that now includes many farmers associations of the country. Altyn Asyr renders services to people residing the remote regions of Turkmenistan including Serhetabat in Mary Velayat, Gazochak in Lebap Velayat and Kone Kesir settlement in Magtymguly Etrap, Balkan Velayat.

Along with extension of the coverage area Altyn Asyr broadens the range of services for its clients including PRS, MMS, long-distance and inter-city communication, voicemail, call forwarding, call waiting, automatic number identification (ANI), etc. This year Altyn Asyr has launched the national consumer UMTS networks that offer high-speed access to the World Wide Web. The great popularity of this service is proved by the fact that thousands of clients have subscribed to it.

The development and modernization of the communications and telecommunications sectors is a key priority of the policy of the Turkmen state. Spotlighting a growing role of telecommunications in the modern world President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov states that particular attention will be paid in our country to technology modernization of this sector that accumulates scientific and engineering advances.
