This salon is the place where we can meet and discuss present tendencies, - said Yuri Zinchuk, the chairman of the Committee for press and mass media cooperation of St. Petersburg Government, at the journalist conference, devoted to the forthcoming opening of "Book Salon" . He emphasized that "live contact with a book should be saved no matter what and despite all excellent modern digital technologies.

Yuri Zinchuk told about the large exposition, which would be devoted to the 65th Victory anniversary, with accordingly decorated stage and related music program. Sergey Alexeev, the director general of "JSC "Lenexpo" said that in 2010 "Book Salon" would become their key exhibition event. Comparing to the last year results, the exhibition space has grown by 40% and the number of participants - by 10%. Around 250 events, such as round tables, presentations, concerts, meetings and awarding ceremonies will be organize in the framework of the forthcoming Salon: round tables, presentations, concerts, meetings and awarding ceremonies. There will be some novelties: exhibition visitors will be offered to publish their own book and read new e-book versions. The exposition will contain a new section, devoted to printing industry.

he presentation of the International Writers' Forum, which will be conducted in St. Petersburg since 2011, will be organized in the framework of the "Book Salon" program. This Forum will become the professional event for publishers, writers, book-chain representatives, polygraphists, literary agents and library representatives. Two issues will be discussed this year: the promotion of Russian literature abroad and publishers' programs for charity funds. There are no literary agencies, offering professional promoting services. "That's why writers have to survive on their profit, and this problem should be solved," - summed up Mr. Kotov.

The organizers of "Book Salon" are the Government of St. Petersburg, Russian Books Union, JSC "Lenexpo". The event is conducted in assistance with the Federal Agency for Press and Media.  Exhibition visitors will be able to meet with famous writers and other representatives of Culture, such as: Daniil Granin, Ludmila Ulitskaya, Tatyana Moskvina, semen Altov, Nikolay Drozdov, Andrey Kivinov, Elena Chizova, Maria Semenova, Naum Sindalovsky and many others. All the visitors will be able to see literary novelties and buy book without any shop charges, meet famous authors, attend seminars and conferences, award ceremonies and enjoy the concert program, prepared by the Union of St. Petersburg and Leningrad Region writers.

Book Salon will be organized in the pavilion 7 of "Lenexpo" exhibition complex on April 22-25, 2010.
