OREANDA-NEWS. April 26, 2010. Construction of ash disposal area in the capital Heat Station-2 should be launched in June. Such a challenge for power engineers Mayor of Astana Imangali Tasmagambetov put on Tuesday at a meeting on the completion of the heating season of 2009-2010.

“I don’t accidentally raise this question. The existing ash disposal area at HS -2 will be operated another 1,5 years. A construction of a new ash disposal area will take at least 2 years, even 3 years. If we do not start building of the ash disposal, we will have problems,” Imangali Tasmagambetov said.

“So by all means, we must start construction of the ash disposal area from June, this is deadline. This is a systemic issue, it is a question of Heat Station functioning,” the Mayor said.

The initial project construction of the ash dump at HS-2 was developed and confirmed in 2005, but it was supposed to be completed in 2008. However, due to lack of funding thr project has not been implemented, Deputy Mayor Vasily Krylov said at the meeting, who oversees the energy block of the capital. Now, the project is underwent a correction. According to him, the cost of ash disposal area construction at HS-2 will be 4 billion tenge.

“We plan the construction in June. Timing is very tight, but we think we will meet the deadline” Vasily Krylov said.
