OREANDA-NEWS. With effect from the 1st of July Sampo Pank will not accept reusable code cards in making payments via Sampo online bank and phone bank. Neither is it possible to enter Sampo online bank or phone bank with reusable code cards after this deadline, reported the press-centre of Sampo Pank.

Historically the reusable code card is one of the first and least secure devices used to identify persons in electronic channels. In recent years banks have repeatedly lowered the daily limit of payments made with reusable code cards. Today the daily limit is only EEK 3,000 which is too low for most customers.

„We think that reusable code cards are not needed any more, because there are other more advanced possibilities for identifying persons in the online bank, e.g. the ID card, the mobile-ID and the PIN calculator. Our customers can also use one-time code cards which are issued free of charge and which enable the customer to set the daily limits himself/herself,“ explains Kerly Tosvel, head of electronic banking channels of Sampo Pank.

As of the 1st of July customers can continue making payments in Sampo online bank and phone bank using the ID card, the mobile ID, the PIN calculator and one-time code cards. Customers who wish to use the one-time code card or the PIN calculator instead of the reusable code card should visit one of Sampo Pank’s outlets. One–time code cards are issued to customers free of charge. In the period of 20.04.2010 to 01.08.2010, ID card readers are available at a discount price of EEK 50.00 in all outlets of Sampo Pank.

More detailed information can be obtained from all Sampo Pank’s outlets or calling Sampo Pank’s Info Line on 6 800 800.
