OREANDA-NEWS. April 29, 2010. TNK-BP’s executive director German Khan told journalists in St.Petersburg that the Company plans to expand its network of service stations in the city by approximately three times to 60 in the medium term, reported the press-centre of TNK-BP.

“The goal is to reach 60 service stations in the medium term”, he said, talking about future prospects for the Company’s business in St.Petersburg.

Khan noted that TNK-BP currently has around 20 stations in the city, with 10 more in the design stage. “We’re looking into the possibility of acquiring some small networks of service stations or individual stations”, he added.

The governor of St.Petersburg, Valentina Matvienko, stated that the city government is continuing to work on putting new service station sites up for auction.

She said that the extent of TNK-BP’s investment in the economy of St.Petersburg would depend, in particular, on how many of these tenders it wins.

The governor also noted TNK-BP’s involvement in the restoration of architectural monuments. According to her, the Company has donated 1.2 billion roubles to restoration and renovation projects in St.Petersburg since 2004, with the funds being used specifically for restoration work at the Troitsky cathedral and the Alexander Nevsky monastery.

“The company’s involvement in the restoration of monuments in St.Petersburg during 2010 is still being discussed. We’ll reach a final agreement on their participation later”, said Matvienko.

TNK-BP is the third biggest oil company in Russia and accounts for around 16% of Russia’s total oil production (including TNK-BP’s share in Slavneft). TNK-BP is equally owned by UK-based oil company BP and Russia’s Alfa–Access–Renova consortium (AAR).
