OREANDA-NEWS. May 4, 2010. Net foreign assets of the Belarusian government and National Bank of Belarus (NBB) amounted to USD 5.294 billion as of April 1, 2010, up 7.9% in January-March, the National Bank of Belarus told.

The increase was due to a rise in gross foreign assets by 7.3% in January-March to USD 6.344 billion and a 4.4% increase in liabilities to USD 1.05 billion as of April 1, 2010.

Net foreign assets placed in hard currency amounted to USD 5.213 billion as of April 1, 2010, while soft currency assets were at the equivalent of USD 80.8 million.

In 2009, Belarus’ net foreign assets increased 53.3% to USD 4.908 billion.
