OREANDA-NEWS. May 05, 2010. Kazakhmys Group announced production results and Y2010 quarter I management report, reported the press-centre of KASE. 

In the first quarter copper production complies with annual objectives. Positive influence on results is the production increase in several Group mines and completion of operations for the previous quarter. 

During three first months copper cathode production made up 78.4 kt. By-product output slightly ahead of annual target, in particular, gold production of 33 koz, silver production of 3,127 koz, zinc production of 39.5 kt.

In 2010, Kazakhmys Group continues implementation of economically and socially significant programs. Among them projects on improvement of copper projects such as Bozshakol and Aktogai and gold project Bozymchak, the cinrease of Ekibastuz GRES-1 capacity and comprehensive social projects.

Oleg Novachuk, Chief Executive Officer, said "Production has gone well in Q1 2010 and we remain on target to produce just over 300 kt of copper cathode during the year. Demand for our metals is sound and we believe that the outlook for the year is positive. With committed funding in place we are now able to focus on our growth projects and I look forward to updating you on our progress over the course of the year."
