OREANDA-NEWS. May 06, 2010. This event was organized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in cooperation with the Ministry of Information Technologies and Communications. Speaking at the opening of the forum, the Prime Minister Vladimir Filat stressed that Moldova is interested in borrowing the experience of the developed countries in telecommunications industry.

According to him, Moldovan government pays special attention to the IT sector, recognizing the importance it plays in economic development. Vladimir Filat stressed that the Moldovan authorities encourage foreign investment in telecommunications, creating optimal conditions for competition and providing quality services.

The premier said that the principles of "e-government” would be effective only if there is a modern and professional communication infrastructure. He hoped that in the nearest future more and more number of citizens will have access to modern communication technologies at reasonable prices. The forum is also attended by the experts in the field of information technologies from 17 states, including Russia, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Armenia, Serbia and Lithuania.
