OREANDA-NEWS. May 6, 2010. GenCos included in the NJSC Energy Company of Ukraine (ECU) have increased their electricity generation output 20.45% to 5.3bn kWh y-o-y in April compared to April 2009. In April 2010, their production performance fell by 5.36% to 16.3bn kWh compared to March 2010. During the January-April 2010 period, the power stations included in NJSC ECU have increased electricity production by 18.1% to 24.8bn kWh compared with the relevant period in 2009.

Millennium Capital sees this news as positive. The electricity generation output growth is a good indicator of the Ukrainian economy growth as a whole. Despite the current positive dynamics in the sector, Millennium Capital believes that electricity production in 2010 will not reach the level of the year 2008 (72.2bn kWh).
