OREANDA-NEWS. May 6, 2010. As a result of the plume of smoke caused by the volcanic eruptions in Iceland, many European Airports have been closed for operations since 16th April 2010 on safety grounds.  In addition, some air space between Kazakhstan and these European Airports has also been closed for navigation. Therefore, a small number of Air Astana’s services to Europe have been cancelled since 16th April 2010.

Air Astana resumed flight operations to and from Amsterdam on 20th April 2010 and resumed the London operations on the 21st April 2010. We are also happy to announce that on 22nd April we resumed flight operations to and from Frankfurt.

As of 22nd April all services to and from Europe are fully operational. We are in constant contact with European authorities to ensure that we can safely operate to our European destinations.

Passengers are still requested to refer to Air Astana’s online Arrivals and Departures  tool to check the latest status of their flights.  Affected passengers will be re-booked onto the next scheduled service.  Passengers wishing to apply for a refund can do so at Air Astana offices worldwide.  For further information contact our 24 hours call centre on +7 727 244 44 77.

All passengers are advised to check the status of their flight and booking before leaving for the airport.
