OREANDA-NEWS. May 06, 2010. A total of 268 users of the aforesaid categories have had telephones installed by NWT within Northwest Russia since the beginning of 2010.

As part of the festivities devoted to the 65th anniversary of the Great Victory, North-West Telecom is installing telephones for Great Patriotic War participants and disabled veterans free of charge throughout 2010 i.e. up to 31 December 2010 every participant and disabled veteran of the Great Patriotic War residing in one of the regions forming part of Northwest Russia may file an application* to obtain access to the local telephone network (to have a telephone installed in   their premises notwithstanding the availability of telephone lines) and sign a contract after selecting any of the existing tariff plans of NWT for local telephone communication services.

The war veterans who signed telephone installation contracts between 1 January and 31 March 2010, have had the money they paid for access to the local telephone communication refunded to them by means of crediting it to their customer accounts as advance payment so that they would not have to visit the Company’s Customer Service Centres once again.

The disabled veterans and war participants may apply for telephone installation or Avangard service connection to any of NWT’s sales and customer service outlets, or file an application by phone calling the information desks of NWT’s branches in the region of their residence. To enter into a contract they should present due proof of benefit.

Aware of its social responsibility to the generation of Great Patriotic War veterans, North-West Telecom believes it is its civic duty and honourable obligation to ensure communication services for them. “The 65th anniversary of the Victory is a memorable day for our country,” stressed   Vladimir Akulich, CEO of OJSC NWT. “By providing telephone communication for Great Patriotic War participants and disabled veterans we are paying tribute to the victorious heroes, not in word but in deed. Today our Company is creating all the conditions necessary for the veterans to feel our care and to be able to communicate with their children, grandchildren and   friends in arms. It is for this purpose that we provide communication services to the war veterans, install telephones at the new flats that the Great Patriotic War participants and disabled veterans are being granted under the Presidential Decree, and provide communication to those living in the most remote communities of the Northwest Federal District.”

In addition, on May 7, 8 and 9 the war veterans may traditionally make use of anniversary discounts on telephone and telegraph services ( see the Press Release dated 29.04.2010 ), and from May 1 to May 31 North-West Telecom is offering to Great Patriotic War participants and disabled veterans an opportunity to get connected to the Avangard service and use a free 1-month access to the Internet if they sign a fixed-term contract.
