OREANDA-NEWS. May 7, 2010. Belarus’ retail turnover, including the public catering sector, went up 13.3% on the year in January-March 2010 to 14.106 trillion Belarusian rubles (Br), an official with the National Statistics Committee told. The increase in retail sales is projected at 14%-15% in 2010.

Retail sales by trading companies rose 13.6 % on the year in the period to 13.4 trillion rubles, while public catering companies’ sales went up 7.2% on the year to 705.6 billion rubles.

Of the total, trade organizations accounted for 74.6%, and individual entrepreneurs and newly formed unitary companies accounted for the remaining 25.4%.

Belarus-made consumer goods accounted for 76.9% of the retail trade turnover. Trade at markets was not accounted for. The share of Belarusian foodstuffs was at 84.9%, Belarusian non-foods at 65.3% in retail trade.

The share of private companies in the total retail turnover was at 82.6%, up 1.9 percentage points from January-March 2009, state companies 13.7%, down 1.6 percentage points year-on-year, while the share of foreign companies stood at 3.7%, down 0.2 of a percentage point.
