OREANDA-NEWS. May 07, 2010. President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received Marc Perrin de Brichambaut, Secretary General of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, who had arrived on a working visit to the Turkmen capital to participate in the energy security forum “Strengthening regional co-operation in Central Asia for promoting stable and reliable energy within Eurasia” organized in collaboration with Turkmen partners and the Regional Heads of Mission meeting in Central Asia.

Expressing gratitude for the opportunity to discuss the prospects for traditional cooperation during a personal meeting, the head of the authoritative international organisation congratulated the leader of the Turkmen state on the success of the state visit to the People’s Republic of China that had aroused intense interest all over the world.

Greeting the honorary guest and thanking him for the heartfelt congratulations Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov focused with satisfaction on the high effectiveness of the Turkmen-Chinese summit in Shanghai that had symbolically coincided with the opening of the World Expo 2010 at which Turkmenistan showcased its achievements for the first time. The Turkmen leader said that the top-level talks had confirmed the intention of the two countries to steadily intensify long-term effective collaboration that had the assets of number of important joint projects including construction of the gas pipeline that had started to supply Turkmen natural gas to China in late 2009.

Evaluating highly the Turkmenistan’s strategy for establishing wide international cooperation with different countries of the world and the largest international and regional organisations, Marc Perrin de Brichambaut said that OSCE reckoned on further fruitful cooperation with dynamically developing Turkmenistan whose status of neutrality stood as a positive factor in maintaining peace and stability in the region.

The OSCE Secretary General said that Turkmenistan’s geopolitical location made to view it as a key link between Europe and Asia that opened up vast opportunities to foster the long-term dialogue that had received new incentives through the Turkmen leader’s active, innovative policy. Welcoming Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov’s new international initiatives on global energy security and disarmament in particular, the OSCE Secretary General sad that his organisation was keenly interested in implementing new joint projects n these critical fields.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov reaffirmed Turkmenistan’s readiness to strengthen contacts with the OSCE as an internationally recognized and authoritative organisation that aimed its activity at ensuring and maintaining global stability and security. In this regard the Turkmen leader emphasized that Turkmenistan attached paramount significance to the summit which was scheduled in collaboration with the OSCE for the second half of 2010.

Discussing the priority aspects of cooperation that evolved from the existing positive experience and new opportunities, the President and his guest specified the key priorities of collaboration reaffirming the mutual intention to further joint efforts in such critical fields as maintenance of peace and security in the region, border protection, control of drug trafficking, organized crime and terrorism.

In conclusion Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Marc Perrin de Brichambaut exchanged the wishes of new accomplishments in the joint noble activity for the benefit and happiness of all peoples in the world.
