OREANDA-NEWS. May 13, 2010. Berlin hosted the 4th sitting of the Intergovernmental Kazakh-German Working Group for Trade and Economic Cooperation. The Kazakh delegation was headed by Albert Rau, Kazakhstan’s First Vice Minister of Industry and New Technology, while the German side was represented by Dr. Karl-Ernst Brauner, Vice Minister of Economic Affairs and Technology, reported the Official website http://en.government.kz.

Representatives of German public bodies, economic associations and alliances were briefed on efforts taken by the Kazakh Government to modernize its economy.

The sides discussed major vectors and priorities of trade and economic cooperation, concerted efforts to facilitate joint projects and arrangements related to the scheduled visit of German Chancellor Angela Merkel to Kazakhstan.

The sides agreed to further unfold cooperation to launch new enterprises in Kazakhstan employing advanced German technology.

Albert Rau also met Cornelia Pieper Minister of State at the Federal Foreign Office. The sides discussed the current state and prospects of the bilateral cooperation, including issues related to the visit of Angela Merkel to Kazakhstan. The sides agreed that the major topic of the visit would be role and contribution of Germany to industrialization efforts in Kazakhstan.

Besides, Albert Rau met leaders of some German companies and institutes of development - Orwimed GmbH, Roth & Rau AG, Chandler, Safe ID Solutions, DEG, GIC, Berlin Chemie, Funke Group, RMA-Armaturen, Vestas and Ost West Ltd.
