OREANDA-NEWS. May 14, 2010. A new Boeing 737-800 Next Generation aircraft arrived at Kiev Borispol International Airport from Seattle (USA). The new Boeing is the fourth aircraft of this type to join the fleet of Ukraine International Airlines in the last ten months, reported the press-centre of UIA.

Thus, Ukraine International Airlines have successfully completed realizing the next stage of its long term strategic program of fleet renewal and expansion. Under this program, from June 2009 to May 2010 the airline received four new Boeings 737-800 Next Generation, manufactured at the Boeing plant in Seattle on UIA special order.

The airplane has passed an official procedure of registration in Ukraine and received the registration number UR-PSD.

All UIA’s Boeing 737-800’s, including the new airplane, are equipped with the latest navigation equipment and CFM 56-7B26 engines. A high safety level and a considerable decrease of fuel consumption make the aircraft more efficient, environmentally friendly and easier to maintain. The airplanes also have special extended raised wingtips – “winglets” – that are designed to improve the aerodynamic efficiency of the aircraft by reducing drag, allowing for fuel savings, and, consequently, lower carbon emissions.

UIA has been operating Boeing aircraft since its foundation in 1992. Today UIA’s fleet consists of 19 modern Boeing 737 aircraft including the new airplane.

All of the new UIA Boeing 737-800 Next Generation aircraft belonging to UIA fleet have two variants of seats grouping – economy and business, and provide greater passenger capacity – up to 189 seats.

“The fleet of Ukraine International Airlines is being constantly renewed. Today UIA is the only airline in Ukraine, which has aircraft of this modification, – said UIA President Yuri Miroshnikov. – We make every effort to ensure that passengers’ travel in modern comfortable airplanes is not only traditionally safe, but also convenient and pleasant.”
