OREANDA-NEWS. May 17, 2010. Russian Service of Cartography and Geodesy (Rosreestr) together with the Bundesamt fьr Kartographie und Geodasie (BKG) (Federal Agency of Cartography and Geodesy), will establish GLONASS ephemeris center.

The tasks of the center consist in providing the geospatial reference systems and the basic geo-information on the territory of the Federal Republic of Germany. The Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSSs), e.g.  the US GPS , the Russian GLONASS and the upcoming European Galileo, are nowadays important techniques for spatial referencing and precise positioning. The availability of original GNSS measurements as observed on tracking stations and supplementary information, e.g., information on satellite’s positions (orbits), are key requirements for various user applications.

BKG’s GNSS Data Center (GDC) provides GLONASS - GPS tracking data and attendant products. Obtaining data of individual tracking stations is structured according to the affiliation to global, regional and national projects with public and partly restricted access.

Rosreestr also works out digital navigation maps to be available by the end of the 10-year milestone in the GLONASS Federal Program.
The program of GLONASS further evolution in 2012-2020 is under development.
