OREANDA-NEWS. May 19, 2010. More than 40 delegations from 22 countries will take part in the Gomel Investment Forum. Over the recent years it will be the largest number of the participants which are expected to attend the forum, Chairman of the Gomel Oblast Executive Committee Alexander Yakobson said at the opening ceremony of the Spring in Gomel Expo on 19 May.

A Czech delegation and a delegation of the Krasnodar Krai (Russian Federation) will become the most representative. Large groups of Polish (Lubuskie Voivodeship) and Moldovan businessmen will attend the forum as well. Business and official circles of Moscow will be represented by 24 people. Representatives of Venezuela and Norway will take part in the forum for the first time.

The main goals of the forum are to inform business circles about the investment potential of the Gomel Oblast and attract foreign investors. The forum will present more than 100 oblast investment projects. Minerals mining in the region will be among them. This year the format of special-purpose sections will be expanded as well. Businessmen will be able to participate in the sessions of five sections: “Tourism, Services and Trade”, “Construction and Energy”, “Processing Industry and Agriculture”, “Foreign Trade Cooperation”, “Scientific and Innovation Potential”. The previous forum included three sections.

The Gomel Economic Forum will be held for the seventh time. In 2009 partaking in the forum were businessmen, official delegations, representatives of the financial and consulting companies, companies and organizations from 22 countries. Documents on over USD 250 million worth of projects were signed with foreign investors last time.
