OREANDA-NEWS. May 25, 2010. IC ROSNO has insured a 12-meter high oak growing at the insurant’s private land plot in the township Obukhovo (Noginsky District, the Moscow Region). The contractual insurance amount is 60,000 roubles, reported the press-centre of ROSNO.

The policy contemplates protection of the tree against fire, unlawful third-party actions, natural disasters, and collision with a transport vehicle. The owner of the land plot hosting the oak has also insured his cottage house with ROSNO under the Citadel program. The tree insurance, along with the plot insurance and the landscape design insurance, is contemplated as an additional option under this insurance product.

The tree insurance is still rare in Russia. However, last year, ROSNO provided insurance protection for the 150-year oak — a local attraction of a cottage community located in the Moscow Region; as for now, no insured accidents occurred with this tree yet.
