OREANDA-NEWS. May 27, 2010. President Alexander Lukashenko issued Decree No 273 "On Establishing the National Investment and Privatization Agency State Institution."

The Decree has established a specialist agency responsible for providing comprehensive support to investors (above all, foreign investors).

The agency will be a product of transformation of the National Investment Agency which functions under the Ministry of Economy.

The main purpose of the new agency will be to attract investments in Belarus, including by way of privatization of national property.

The agency will be subordinate to the Government and will report to the Supervisory Council which will be responsible for co-ordinating and overseeing its operations. The agency will represent the interests of the State in attracting investments to Belarus, including in privatization of national property.

The new status will enable the Agency to interact effectively with national government bodies and support an efficient and timely interaction between investors and local authorities; it will make the agency a one-stop shop for investors, regardless of how they come to Belarus; it will also help improve the efficiency of the privatization process in Belarus and attract more investments to the Belarusian economy.
