OREANDA-NEWS. June 02, 2010. This event has not accidentally become a key point of the program of the presidential trip to the region. The new plant at the Vasilkovsky Ore Mining and Processing Complex is one of the first projects realized in the framework of the State Accelerated Industrial and Innovative Development Program. At initial designed capacity, the plant is cheduled to annually process up to 8 million tons of ore and produce 15 tons of gold.

Upon arrival to the Vasilkovsky GOK, JSC, Nursultan Nazarbayev surveyed the open-cast mine and assigned facilities and got familiarized himself with modern production technology.

Addressing the participants of the opening ceremony, the President emphasized significance of this event not only for the complex and the Akmola Region.

The President highlighted that the Vasilkovsky Works has been provided the increase in the country’s golden reserves throughout all the independence years. It means that it strengthened the country’s economic power, financial system and provided successful implementation of all the reforms and increase in the people’s standard of living.

A new production plant is an advance to the innovative industrialization of the Akmola Region which is the country’s important granary with advanced agriculture. In addition, volume of industrial output already accounts for 20 percent of the regional gross domestic product. With new industrialization installed, the region’s industrial sector will further develop. Twelve industrial projects with total of KZT 18 billion had been finished last year. Nearly 20 projects are underway.

The head of state highlighted the importance of the personnel retraining. It is considered necessary to develop working environment and create comfortable conditions for their everyday life.

The President congratulated the staff of the complex on the opening of a new plant and wished peace and prosperity.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Nursultan Nazarbayev suggested the Vasilkovsky ore deposit and the Vasilkovsky Ore Mining and Processing Works to rename Altyn Tau (the Golden Mountain).
