OREANDA-NEWS. June 02, 2010. Izhorskiye Zavody, a part of OMZ Group, have finished the key stage of the production of a PGV-1000MK steam generator set for the 2nd unit of the Belene nuclear power plant, namely the welding of circular seams.

Welding seams on the four steam generator casings were performed with high quality and in full accordance with the rules and regulations for nuclear equipment production.

Four steam generator units are a part of the power unit’s ‘nuclear island’ equipment and are used for the generation of dry saturated steam. Each steam generator weighs over 200 tons.

PGV-1000MK steam generator for the Belene nuclear power plant is identical to casings manufactured for the AES-2006 Russian nuclear power stations shipped for the Novovoronezhskaya AES-2 in 2009.

It should be noted that the construction of the 2nd unit of the Bulgarian Belene nuclear power plant goes ahead of schedule for the 1st power unit. Because of that, according to the contract, in the nearest months Izhorskiye Zavody will manufacture four more steam generator casings for the 1st unit of the Bulgarian nuclear power plant.
