OREANDA-NEWS. June 03, 2010. The Belarusian agricultural machinery manufacturer Gomselmash has shipped the first batch of grain harvesters to Ukraine on leasing terms, representatives of Gomselmash’s Marketing said.

The supplies are part of the joint action plan designed to implement priority avenues of Belarus-Ukraine cooperation that were shaped at the meeting of the presidents of Belarus and Ukraine in April 2010.

Leasing schemes are also used to supply agricultural machines to Russia. Contracts are signed via the state-run leasing company Promagroleasing. It was set up in 2009 and provides aid to mechanical engineering companies in their efforts to export their products on terms, which are preferential for customers.

Belarusian companies are insufficiently experienced in export operations on leasing terms. This is why certain problems arise. Nevertheless, all in all leasing helps increase export. In January-May Gomselmash exported USD 138 million worth of commodities, or 103.5% as against the same period of last year. The company has managed to build on its rather high last year’s figures. Last year the company kept exports high despite the crisis.

Founded in 1978, the manufacturing corporation Gomselmash stems from the plant Gomselmash that was founded in 1930. The Gomel-based mechanical engineering company is one of the largest manufacturers of agricultural machines in the CIS and Europe. Gomselmash offers self-propelled and towed harvesters and mowing crushers, grain harvesters, mounted mower-shredders, potato harvesters.
