Background

The Accord on Gasification for the Kamchatka Krai was inked in January 2008. The Agreement of Cooperation between Gazprom and the Kamchatka Krai Government was signed in February 2009.

The gasification level of the Kamchatka Krai is less than 1 per cent (LNG is not supplied).

In 2009 the Kamchatka Krai was for the first time involved into Gazprom’s gasification program. Under the Program, the Company invested RUB 275 million in engineering and construction of a gas lateral connecting the automatic gas distribution station of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky to CHPP-2. In the same year Gazprom developed the General Scheme for gas supply to and gasification of the Kamchatka Krai.

In 2010 Gazprom will invest another RUB 725 million in construction of the gas lateral from the automatic gas distribution station of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky to CHPP-2 projected for completion during this year.

In September 2007 the Russian Federation Government adopted the decision prescribing Gazprom to get involved in the Gas Supply to the Kamchatka Oblast, Phase 1 – Gas Supply to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky project.

As part of the project, Gazprom is pre-developing the Kshukskoye and Nizhne-Kvakchikskoye fields on the western coast of the Kamchatka Peninsula and is placing the Sobolevo – Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky gas trunkline projected for commissioning in  2010. The project also stipulates gas distribution networks construction in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.

It has become a tradition for Gazprom to act as the general sponsor and the organizer of the International Biathlon Competition for Vitaly Fatyanov Prize. The Competition was first held in 2007 in Novosibirsk, later on – in Uvat (Tyumen Oblast). Since 2009 Vitaly Fatyanov Competition has been held in Kamchatka.
