OREANDA-NEWS. June 08, 2010. In July, the Ashinsky Metallurgical Plant is to phase in a new electric furnace in place of obsolete open-hearth furnaces. The unit has a capacity of 1 mn tons per year. Equipment modernization should allow the company to enhance its operating efficiency and lend support to its stock valuations.

Metal Courier cited official sources in the company as saying that the Ashinsky Metallurgical Plant was to put into operation a new electric furnace with a capacity of 1 mn tons annually. Subsequently, the company is to phase out outmoded oxygen converter furnaces. The electric furnace was originally scheduled to come online in April, but its opening was delayed due to the unpreparedness of auxiliary facilities.
