OREANDA-NEWS. June 08, 2010. A transit agreement signed yesterday with Turkey allows Azerbaijan to plan gas supplies to European markets.

Last week industry & energy minister Natig Aliyev of Azerbaijan stated that the agreement with Turkey enabled to use a range of routes running through this country for export of Azeri gas to Europe.

“In particular, due to the crossover between Turkish and Greek gas transport systems Azerbaijan is able to supply up to 3.9 bn cu m of gas a year to markets of Greece and Italy via ITGI pipeline,” the minister said.

Besides, Nabucco and some other gas projects also claim for Azeri gas. Choice between the routes will be made for the next 6-8 months.
