OREANDA-NEWS. June 09, 2010. Belarusian potash producer Belaruskali transshipped 1.395 million tonnes of potash fertilizers via the seaport of Klaipeda, in Lithuania, in January-April, a representative in the producer told.

“The significant transshipment volume is attributed to the best possible logistical scheme for the Belarusian exporter,” a representative in Belaruskali said.

In 2009, 2.34 million tonnes of potash were transshipped via Klaipeda.

Last year, export of Belarusian potash fertilizers amounted to 2.948 million tonnes, compared to 6.48 million tonnes in 2008.

Belaruskali is one of the largest potash makers in the world, employing about 20,000 personnel. The company plans to increase its output to 9.65 million tonnes annually by 2015. Belaruskali accounts for 15.3% of the world potash production.
