OREANDA-NEWS. June 10, 2010. Participation of Moldovan insurance companies in the international "Green Card" system will allow them to approach the cutting-edge technology in car insurance

This was said during the press conference by the Director of the National Bureau of Car Insurers of Moldova (NBCI) Pavel Cater, on the received full membership in the International Bureau "Green Card".

As it was previously reported, on 27-28 May 2010 during the annual meeting of member countries "Green Card" in Stockholm (Sweden), the countries voted unanimously to end the transitional period for NBCI of Moldova and provide it with full membership.

Pavel Cater noted that Moldova acceded to "Green Card" in 1997, but began operations in 2001. For all these years the NBCI had different, both internal and external problems with this type of insurance, but now it will actively develop and facilitate development of legislation in Moldova in line with the EU standards.

The right to issue "Green Cards" in Moldova have 6 companies: ASITO, Grawe Carat Asigurari, MoldAsig, Moldova-Astrovaz, Donaris Group and Moldcargo. Thus, at present BNAA has six full members and 9 associates.

The volume of premiums collected for the I quarter of 2010 on "Green Card" amounted to 46.4 million lei. In another context Pavel Cater noted that the majority of car insurers fulfill their obligations on time. In most cases, compensation is paid not in 30 days but maximum in 15 days. He also expressed hope that after 2 years, when tariffs are liberalized insurance market will develop much more actively.
