OREANDA-NEWS. June 10, 2010. The National Energy Company Ukrenergo auctions access to interstate electricity capacities of Ukraine for July at 270 MW.  The terminal capacity will be offered for sale of the Burshtyn TPP Island for the power grids of Slovakia, Romania and Hungary. In total, 15 lots will be up for sale in four directions, similarly to the previous auction.  The starting price will be: UAH 1.736mn for 100 MW guaranteed distribution, UAH 0.868mn for 50 MW guaranteed distribution, UAH 0.868mn for 50 MW non-guaranteed distribution, and UAH 0.347mn for 20 MW non-guaranteed distribution.  These prices exceed the level of the previous auction by 3.3%.  The non-guaranteed distribution means the possibility of the power supply being promptly adjusted by Ukrenergo (usually, in case of an accident or of a change in the balance of power in the power system of Ukraine).  The bids will be opened at 9.45 AM (+2 GMT) on June 15.

Millennium Capital thinks that the upcoming auction will be a non-starter, as had happened previously with the auctions in March, April and May due to the fall in the electricity consumption internationally.
