OREANDA-NEWS. June 16, 2010. ROSNO has made two large insurance compensation payments under the personal property insurance contracts. In both cases, losses were incurred due to fires, reported the press-centre of ROSNO.

The wooden cottage house located in Dmitrovsky district of the Moscow Region caught fire due to a short circuit in the house’s electric wiring. The resulting fire completely destroyed the house and also damaged a wooden bathhouse. The aggregate insurance compensation amounted to 5,957,680 roubles (including 5,884,840 roubles for the cottage house). The house had been insured for 200,000 US dollars, and the bathhouse had been insured for 40,000 US dollars.

The fire in the 2-storeyed brick cottage house with underground garage located in Noginsk district of the Moscow Region was caused by the electric network’s emergency operating mode. Though the fire started on the attic floor, in the result, the entire roof of the building burnt out. The fumes and the performed firefighting measures further damaged the furnishing on all floors of the building. The insurance compensation equalled 3,890,446 roubles.

The house itself had been insured with ROSNO for 15,580,000 roubles.

"The most frequent reasons for the fire are: short circuit, malfunctioning electrical equipment, and the electric network’s emergency operating mode. In the spring and summer season, a fire in country houses and dachas may originate from arson or inflammation of dry grass", told Ms. Elena Shatayeva, Deputy Head of Personal and Property Insurance Loss Settlement Department.
