OREANDA-NEWS. June 16, 2010. The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine at its meeting is going to pass a bill on the functioning of the natural gas market, which will allow the European Union to participate in the modernization of the Ukrainian gas transport system.

"Tomorrow the Government will consider the law on the functioning of the natural gas market. This opens for us the way to implement the provisions of the Brussels memorandum and paves the way for the EU participation in the modernization of our GTS", said Mykola Azarov at a briefing for the Ukrainian media in the framework of the working visit to Luxembourg.

The Head of the Government expressed satisfaction with the talks between Ukraine and the EU on the creation of a free trade zone, visa-free regime and the course of negotiations on signing an association agreement. Mykola Azarov also added that the EU is satisfied with the reforms in Ukraine, implementation of which will promote deepening of cooperation between Ukraine and the EU.

"The EU pays great attention to the developing of relations with Ukraine. Consultations were held in a very informal atmosphere. On the part of Mrs. Ashton and Commissioner Fule, there were calls to intensify our dialogue, meet more often, operationally exchange advices to further intensively agreements on these great deals. This will lead to strengthening and deepening of reforms in Ukraine, Ukraine’s quick recovery and accelerating economic and social development", emphasized Mykola Azarov.
