OREANDA-NEWS. June 16, 2010. The Science and Innovative Technologies in the Epoch of Great Revival International Exhibition and Conference closed at the Exhibition Centre in Ashgabat. The large international forums were initiated and held under the patronage of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov who addressed the welcoming statement to participants of the International Exhibition and Scientific Conference.

This large-scale action timed to the Science Day celebrated widely in Turkmenistan on June 12 became a vivid example of the success of the reform in the science education sector and the positive changes taking place in the Turkmen state and society. Congratulating the scientific community of Turkmenistan on the Science Day President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said that “in the age of scientific and technological progress all our projects, programmes and reforms developed to serve the Turkmen people and the whole mankind have rigorous scientific substantiation”.

The participants of the scientific forum and exhibition dedicated to the achievements of modern science and application of scientific advances in practice represented the business and scientific circles of over 30 countries of the world. The pavilions in the Exhibition Centre presented a variety of products and illustrative materials of 30 foreign companies. These included the well-known companies operating successfully in our country for many years and maintaining fruitful contacts with the research institutes of the Academy of Scenes and the Ministry of Education as well as the companies that have just come to the Turkmen market and seek to develop fruitful cooperation.

The research institutions of the Academy of Sciences, scientific production associations, scientific and technical centres, project organisations, ministries and departments and higher educational institutions of Ashgabat participated in the exhibition. During three days thousands of people and guests of Ashgabat visited the exhibition and learned about science and technological advances, Turkmen scientists’ contribution in developing the sectors of the economy of independent Turkmenistan including the fuel and energy sector, chemical and construction industries, agriculture, transport and communications sectors. The exhibition showcased Turkmenistan’s progress in developing high technologies and the social and humanitarian spheres.

Certainly, the major outcome of the exhibition and forum was the meetings of the heads of the Turkmen research institutes, enterprises and organizations with potential partners that helped to identify the fields of mutual interest and trends in possible cooperation. This was facilitated by the international forum that provided a practical framework for discussions.

During the plenary meeting and seven sections the participants considered the approaches to adopting advanced technologies in the oil and gas sector, ensuring environmental security in the energy and chemical industries, applying innovations in physics and mathematics, technical modernization of the agricultural sector. The special sections of the international exposition were dedicated to economy and law as the priorities of strategic development, new technologies in medicine, achievements and objectives in humanitarian sciences.

Many reports were dedicated to introduction of information and communications technologies and innovations in the education sphere – the basic one for scientific and technological progress. It was noted that informatization of Turkmen science was a key priority because research results, experimental development, other activities in the technology sector and innovative research projects required the appropriate instruments and infrastructure that enable to comply with international standards when conducting fundamental and applied research and even make a breakthrough.

The conference sections were conducted at the research institutions of the Academy of Sciences and the higher educational institutions in Ashgabat that enabled to involve postgraduate students and students in the discussions. It can be said that the international exhibition and conference made a real contribution to strengthening and expanding scientific and business contacts between Turkmen scientists and their foreign colleagues and encouraging youth to conduct research activities.

The conference participants received the certificates and diplomas during the closing ceremony.

Expressing deep gratitude to the Turkmen leader for providing an opportunity to discuss the important issues and topics the participants called for maintaining close collaboration to promote world science and address global challenges and problems.
