OREANDA-NEWS. June 22, 2010. The delegation of MFTBC (Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation) headed by Masashi Kogame, Member of the Board, Vice President, Head of Operations Trucks & Buses, MFTBC was on a business visit at the enterprises of OJSC KAMAZ and FUSO KAMAZ Trucks Rus Joint Venture.

The representatives of Mitsubishi Corporation visited CUMMINS KAMA JV producing Cummins engines on the premises of OAO KAMAZ-Diesel, and they also saw the mother assembly conveyor at the Automobile Plant. After that the delegation visited FUSO KAMAZ Trucks Rus to complete certification of the enterprise for mass production of Mitsubishi Canter vehicles.

During the last month FUSO KAMAZ Trucks Rus has been working on production development in the routine of trial assembly under the guidance of Japanese experts. The results of the work done were summed up in the course of the working conference which was held within the bounds of the visit. In the name of the management of MFTBC, Masashi Kogame confirmed high quality and approved of launching mass production of Mitsubishi Fuso Canter vehicles.

FUSO KAMAZ Trucks Rus was established in November 2009 by Daimler Trucks, the primary shareholder of MFTBC, and OJSC KAMAZ. Daimler and KAMAZ each own 50 % of FUSO KAMAZ Trucks Rus Joint Venture for production of light-duty trucks. The joint venture functions on the basis of production capacities of KIP Master (Naberezhnye Chelny). The production capacities of the JV (9.5 thousand square meters) are used for assembly, quality control and logistics. At the initial stage vehicles are being assembled from semi-knocked-down (SKD) kits shipped from Japan. However, the enterprise has already started looking for the Russian suppliers.

Mitsubishi Fuso is entering the market with its Canter low-tonnage truck of 7.5 tonnes. The Canter model is noted for its reliability, fuel efficiency and durability. Its main differences from its analogues are the following: it has a space and comfortable cab, a new security system of a driver’s cab (RISE), a reinforced chassis construction, and a panel mount shifter arm. It makes the vehicle reliable and comfortable.

The Canter model for the Russian market will be equipped with a 4.9-litre engine with 110kW of power and 471nm of torque, and a new 6-step gearbox. The engine optimally combines high performance with efficiency and meets the Euro-3 emission standards.

Customers will be offered four versions of trucks with diverse wheelbases – 3410mm, 3870mm, 4170mm, and 4470mm. It will enable to satisfy each buyer’s individual needs. The vehicle is meant for transportation of cargoes with a total mass of up to 4500kg which secures high performance of the vehicle.
