In the current year there is a remaining trend of reduction in the indicators of environmental impact of KMG’s activities, including lowering of the specific volumes of the emissions during oil production and refining, oil and gas transportation.
The work on the creation of an effective system of the industrial environmental monitoring, which is determined as one of the main priorities of the Long-term Development Strategy, is carried on. The system of aerospace environmental monitoring is functioning and the ecological data base of KMG is being constantly updated.
Since the start of the year the total of 1.3 bln tenges have been forwarded from the KMG group for implementation of environmental measures.
In the mid-term KMG will focus its efforts on the solution of the following top-priority tasks:
implementation of the Company’s Comprehensive environmental program for 2006-2015;
improvement of the Health, Safety and Environment Management system;
implementation of programs and measures on energy saving and efficient use of resources, implementation of eco-friendly technologies and equipment, within the framework of the Corporate Energy Efficiency Program;
creation of the greenhouse gases emission control system, using the Kyoto Protocol mechanisms, and organization of KMG’s Carbon Fund;
securing safety of offshore oil operations and creation of a specialized division for response to oil spill and mitigation of their consequences.
