OREANDA-NEWS. June 24, 2010. ASTARTA CEO Viktor Ivanchyk participated in the IX International Sugar Forum held on June 15-17 in Kursk, Russia. Representatives of sugar and agri-businesses from Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Germany, the US, France and other countries also took part in this event.

While speaking at the round table "Investment Prospects of the Beet and Sugar Sector - Fundamentals and Perspectives", Mr. Ivanchyk stressed the importance of experience sharing among leading aricultural and sugar producers from different countries. Namely, he  emphasized that using the North American technologies in beet growing ASTARTA had managed to improve the crop?s yields and quality in the past 5-7 years.

Key sugar producers from Russia, Belarus and the US gave accent to the fact that industrialization and large-scale farming, integration of agri-producers into big agri-industrial groups is an important trend for agri-producers.

The Forum?s participants also admitted that sugar producers in Russia, Ukraine and Belarus have a huge potential for an increase in sugar production and an improvement of the product's competitiveness in local and international markets.
