OREANDA-NEWS. June 28, 2010. Berlin - Russia's state rail company RZD has expressed renewed interest in German national rail operator Deutsche Bahn, according to a media report published Saturday.

"Should the German government place the privatisation of Deutsche Bahn back on the agenda, we will again announce our interest," Moscow railway chief Vladimir Yakunin told the German business weekly Wirtschaftswoche.

In 2008, RZD had planned to buy around 5 per cent of shares in Deutsche Bahn before Germany cancelled its privatisation plans.

Any such move is now expected to be postponed until the current market volatility ends.
