OREANDA-NEWS. June 29, 2010. Solombala pulp and paper mill (Arkhangelsk region) hosted an auction where the contracting company for developing Solombala pulpmill’s shift to natural gas was defined.

As natural gas was laid to Arkhangelsk, in April 2010 Solombala’s management decided to gasify its power facilities by 2012.

As the information on the auction was placed on the corporate site, two companies participated in the auction, Komigrazhdanproekt from Syktyvkar and NG-Energo from St. Petersburg.

The starting (maximum) price was 10.5 million roubles (USD339,000). At the fourth step, the price decreased to 8.4 million (USD 271,000), and Komigrazhdanproekt won the auction.

Annual gas consumption will amount to 70 million cubic meters or 80,500 tons of standard fuel. Gasification will be held in two stages. First, boilers #4 and #5 of heat and power station No. 1 will be gasified as well as lime regenerator #3. Second, the remaining boilers of power plant No. 1 and recovery boilers of power plant No. 2 will be shifted to gas.

Natural gas will be used as main fuel at the boiler #4 of power plant No. 1 and at the lime regenerator #3 of the causticization and lime regeneration facility. It will also be used in backlighting mode at the boiler #1 (which uses wood waste), #2 and #3 (which use coil), and #5 of the power plant No. 1 as well as at three recovery boilers of the power plant No. 2.
